As Texas continues to be among the leaders in economic and population growth, an important part of our business is the new home construction market. Propane is becoming the fuel of choice beyond most urban natural gas service areas. Builders and their homeowners are discovering its advantages over electricity in convenience, efficiency, operating cost and minimal environmental impact.
In addition to fueling hot water heaters, ovens, kitchen ranges, clothes dryers and furnaces, propane is increasingly used to fuel swimming pool and spa heaters, outdoor gas grills and architectural lighting. Our Yesterdays Sharp Propane began operating over 57 years ago, in 1949. Sam and Esteline Sharp started out with one employee, one delivery truck and one service truck in Smithville. In
those early days, they serviced Bastrop and Fayette counties. They built their business on good service, competitive pricing and the delivery of a safe, clean product.
Along the way they raised a family and, as the business grew, that family spirit transferred to employees and customers alike. Their son, Mike Sharp Sr., joined his parents in the business in 1967. Mike Jr. continues doing business established by his grandparents to this day.
From its beginning in Smithville, Sharp Propane has grown to become the largest independent propane retailer in Texas. We truly appreciate the daily opportunity we have to work hard for you. You are the reason we are in business today.
